THE Donkey Sanctuary is holding a Ceilidh barn dance at Woods Farm, Bowd, on Saturday, July 19, from 7:30pm to midnight, to help raise funds. Woods Farm currently houses 410 donkeys, including Esmeralda, the oldest resident, believed to be 55 years old. Spinach for Norman, a Devon-based Ceilidh band, will be providing the music for the evening within one of the donkeys' barns at the farm. Kate Bailey, the Sanctuary's event coordinator, said: "This is the first time we've held an event at Woods Farm, which is not usually open to the general public. Ceilidh dances are great fun and open to everyone. The 'caller' always explains the dances and they're easy to follow! Please come along if you can." Tickets are available for £7.00 on the door or £6.50 in advance from the visitor centre at The Donkey Sanctuary or by calling Kate Bailey on (01395) 573003. Woods Farm is located next to Sidmouth's recycling centre on the Sidmouth Road, Bowd. The Black Horse pub in Sidmouth will be providing a bar selling alcohol, including real ale, and non-alcoholic drinks.
