POLICE were called to the A3052 on Tuesday after reports that an injured deer was lying in the middle of the road. A motorist, travelling from Exeter to Seaton, raised the alarm at 6pm after coming across the animal near Newton Poppleford. A vet was also called to the scene but on arrival the deer was found to be dead. A police spokesman said they believe the deer had been hit by a vehicle although no one had reported the incident.
