A new puffin crossing is set to be installed in Cadhay Lane.
Bovis Homes has paid for the safety measure to provide access between its new houses and The King’s School.
A puffin crossing uses infrared detectors and mats to turn traffic lights green when no pedestrians are detected on the crossing.
A Devon County Council spokesman said: “The puffin crossing is a condition of the planning permission granted for the Bovis Homes development, south of The King’s School, and as such will be paid for by the developer. The crossing will provide access between the new houses and the school. We’re working with the developer to have the crossing installed as soon as possible.”
