A 4x4 driver saved the day when he went and collected cinema staff from far and wide to save a charity screening from being cancelled.
The showing of Colin Firth’s new film The Mercy took place on Thursday evening thanks to the help of Richard Waring.
The charity evening, which was held in memory of Robin Firth and to raise money for the RNLI and other rotary charities, looked like it was going to be cancelled after Storm Emma hit the valley.
Richard came to everyone’s aid, allowing the show to go on, by single-handedly going and picking up the staff that were otherwise unable to get to work.
Lynn Ellis, a member of the Rotary Club of Sidmouth, said: “He was just taking them wherever they needed to go. I just feel he needs some recognition for what he did around the town for anyone he could see that needed help.”
