Glyn Dobson has been re-elected for another year as Ottery’s mayor as the council agreed he should spend a record seventh year in office.

At Tuesday’s annual town council meeting he was returned to the position he has held since 2007 without challenge, and his deputy, Ian Holmes, was also re-elected unopposed.

The mayor said he was proud to do the job for another year, and Councillor George Hansford said: “As a senior member of this council I have served under a lot of chairman, and Glyn Dobson rates as the very highest.”

Councillor Paul Lewis was chosen to continue his role as treasurer, a position he has held for more than five years, and Paul Carter will continue as chairman of Ottery Town Council’s planning committee.
