East Devon District Council (EDDC) can’t afford to install or empty any more receptacles.
The authority and its contractor already collect a whopping 270 tonnes of dog excrement from 350 bins across the region.
Sponsors willing to pay for the installation and upkeep of bins will now be asked to contact Sidmouth Town Council.

EDDC charges 59 per bin, which cost between 60 and 100 to put in place. Sponsors will also have to fork out 200 to see they are emptied three times a week for a year.
An EDDC spokesperson said: “The environment department frequently receives requests for additional dog waste bins at specific locations, but, unfortunately, in the current economic climate, we are simply unable to pay for installation and emptying of any more.”
The town council will also be responsible for securing payment from sponsors.
