The Sid Valley Food Bank is in need of donations.
Its manager Lois Swarbrick said the cause is ‘literally going from week to week’ and since January had been supporting between 12 and 16 families.
She added that, on Friday alone, the bank, in All Saints Road, helped 13 families and individuals, made up of 28 people.
Lois said over the last few months its stock had been depleted, leaving it with no soup or dog food and short of puddings, fruit juice, jams and marmalade, pasta sauces, tinned meat, fish and fruit, savoury noodles, rice and toilet rolls.
She added: “We have run down our stock - the only thing we have an excess of is beans and pasta.
“Normally, by now, we are seeing a reduction with the warmer weather but at the moment we haven’t seen that drop.
“Any help anyone could give would be much appreciated.”
