SIDMOUTH Donkey Sanctuary is hosting its summer fair tomorrow (Sunday, August 15).

The fair is planned to be the biggest family event to take place at the sanctuary this year. It will run from 10am-4pm and admission is free.

The Sanctuary and its sister charity, the Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys (EST) have organised a range of activities for all ages.

There will be donkey cart rides, a barbecue, bouncy castle, face painting, a children’s corner, beer tent, bucking bronco, a large inflatable assault course, bric-a-brac, plant, cake and craft stalls. There will also be a fun dog show, a donkey riding display and an award ceremony where children with special needs will be recognised for their progress or achievements since coming to the EST centre for riding therapy.

The organsations are connected by Dr Elisabeth Svendsen, MBE, who founded The Donkey Sanctuary in 1969 and EST (formerly The Slade Centre) in 1975. She will be signing books at certain points during the day.

Sanctuary press officer Dawn Vincent said: “It’s going to be so much fun this year as we have more activities than ever before.”

All funds raised will go to the two charities, which both rely entirely on donations. For further information, call 01395 578222.
