St George battled a dragon but the variety in The Byes this Sunday (April 23) will be altogether friendlier bunch.
The Sid Valley Rotary Club is celebrating England’s patron saint with a fun walk for all the family. Children are encouraged to turn out as fire-breathing mythical creatures, while adults are invited to don red and white.
Rotary club marshals will line the route for safety and guidance and Sid Vale Association members will be on hand with facts about The Byes.
The walk will begin behind the swimming pool at the Ham and go through The Byes and Margaret’s Meadow to finish at Sidford Social Hall. There will be a quiz for the whole family, prizes for the best dressed dragon, a raffle to win a toy dragon and a tombola.
Registration (£5 per adult, which includes a cream tea) is at 1.30pm and the walk will set off at 2pm. All proceeds will go to Children’s Hospice South West. Late entries cannot be accepted.
