A couple from Honiton celebrated a special start to 2015 as they welcomed their son to the world on New Year’s Day.
Proud parents Simon and Lauren Clarke had the maternity ward at Honiton Hospital almost all to themselves when their son, Ashton John, was born at 2.45pm on January 1.
The pair, who have been married for a little over a year, both work at Ottery’s Riverside Motors – Simon as a director and mechanic and Lauren as a receptionist.
Ashton was due on January 2, but Lauren went into labour at 2am on New Year’s Eve.
“It was lovely, we had the place to ourselves,” said Simon, 33. “I think it’s quite special and definitely a great way to welcome in the new year for us.”
