The council has teamed up with South West Ambulance and will invest £5,000 in the life saving equipment.
The district council is set to spend £5,000 to fund four new defibrillators across sites in Sidmouth, Exmouth and Seaton.
The council has teamed up with South West Ambulance to install life saving equipment in the council chamber at Knowle, Seaton Wetlands and Exmouth’s town hall and Camperdown Terrace.
South West Ambulance Service has listed the defibrillators on the 999 system and in the event of an emergency call the caller will be advised a defibrillator is within their proximity.
Councillor Ian Thomas, East Devon’s portfolio holder for finance said: “Our investment of around £5,000 represents excellent value for money in terms of improving our resilience.
“In the event of cardiac arrest, research shows that for every minute a first shock is delayed, the chances of the patient’s survival diminishes by 10 per cent.”
