PUPILS from Sidbury Primary School had a wild time visiting Charmouth to learn about fossils and create their own dinosaurs.

The trip by classes three and four helped them with their topic – the “magical world” – said Charlotte Hill, head of teaching and learning at the school.

“The children had a really lovely time and the weather held out for us,” she added.

“The group found loads of fossils and then produced sculptures of dinosaurs made out of them.

“One pupil, George Eul-Barker, was particularly pleased with the fossil he had found.”

The visit, which included a tour of the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre and fossil museum, was designed to combine the childrens’ classroom learning with field experience.

The Jurassic Coast and the Seven Wonders of the World are among recent topics of study which encourage pupils to explore the wider world.
