ST John’s School pupils learned all about winter for an art project. Nicolas Guttierez, 13, won a prize of thermal socks and gloves in recognition of his dedication to art despite the inclement weather. He took photos of a boat at Port Royal and a massive and ancient oak at Knowle, which in midwinter still has its green leaves. Deputy head Mike Burgess praised Nicolas’ artistic skills, adding: “I wonder if there were any other trees evidently in full foliage in Sidmouth in December?”
