Emma top of the class with five A* at Colyton Grammar
THREE students from Ottery St Mary and one from Sidmouth have secured university places after doing well at A-Levels on Thursday.
All are at Exeter’s Maynard School, whose upper sixth has produced “outstanding” results with 100 percent pass rate at A2 and 92 percent gaining A*, A or B grades.
Four secured places at Oxbridge, including Venetia D’Arcy who gained five A* grades to study medicine at Cambridge.
Local students Lucy Slott from Sidmouth gained two A grades and a B to study philosophy at Cardiff.
Amy Channing from West Hill, will study classics at Exeter University after gaining three A grades, while Louise Thomas, also from West Hill, will go to Falmouth to study illustration after gaining two A* grades and a D.
Alex Hatherley from Ottery St Mary received two A grades and a B to study nutrition at Leeds.
Head Bee Hughes said: “I am absolutely delighted with the performance of all our students at A-level this year. This is an incredibly talented year group, who have performed stunningly, despite the uncertainty of university places and the debate regarding the validity of grades.”
Emma Pope from Sidmouth achieved a stunning five A* and an A at A-level at Colyton Grammar School and is off to Oxford to study medicine.
