NEARLY 7,000 families who registered their children for a September place at one of Devon’s primary schools landed their first choice- says education authority Devon County Council (DCC).
Ninety-four per cent of reception starters for the 2011/12 academic year bagged a place at their first-choice school.
Ninety-eight per cent were handed a spot at one of their preferred options.
The latest stats compare to figures of 93.5per cent and 97.5per cent respectively last year.
Parents were notified this week which school their children will be heading to in four months time.
DCC said percentages were likely to increase slightly over the year as “shakedown” occurs and appeals are heard.
The authority added on-line applications rose this year with 96per cent of parents taking to the worldwide web- a rise of two per cent.
