Two girls made history by being the first female recipients of the highest award in scouting to come from Beer scouts in its 99-year history.
Imogen Lewis and Pippa Groves, both 13, were half of a foursome to pick up The Chief Scout Gold award from Beer Scout Group in a presentation last week.
Derek Marriott, one of the district senior scout leaders and friend of the group, handed the girls their certificates, adding: βItβs brilliant to see young people of today making a commitment to Scouting.β
The other two from the Beer group to win the accolade were 14 year-olds Jasper Dommett and Douglas Izzard, who were both presented with their awards earlier in the autumn.
Nigel Groves, Beer Group Scout leader praised the work of the four individuals to win Chief Scout Gold, which is only given upon completion of a whole host of challenges through a scouting career.
