The King’s School is celebrating is best ever GCSE results with record numbers of pupils getting five A* to C grades.

This morning’s announcements saw an increase to 86 per cent of pupils with five A* to C’s, and 80 per cent reached the ‘Gold Standard’ of five or more A* to C grades including maths and English.

Students excelled with 36 per cent of all grades being A* or A and 60 per cent of all grades being A* to B.

Head teacher Faith Jarrett said : “We are thrilled that 62 students achieved five or more A* or A grades and 98 per cent achieved at least one A* to C grade, which is our best result ever.”

The Ottery school also saw a 100 per cent pass rate for vocational courses and over half the pupils met the gifted and talented threshold.

Faith added: “These outstanding results are obviously the culmination of a great deal of hard work by the students supported by their teachers and families.”

“Today is very much a day for the students to really celebrate the result of all that hard work and to look forward to a very promising future.”
