Musical comedy has audiences rocking in the aisles at Otterton
A PRODUCTION by the 87 pupils at Otterton Primary School had audiences rocking in the aisles.
Craig Hawe’s musical comedy What A Knight is based on King Arthur of Camelot and his knights of the Round Table, writes Naomi Clarke.
The whole school was involved in the successful musical, mostly as choir or dancers, and main parts were given to Years Five and Six as it was Year Six’s last performance with Otterton Primary.
Three of the main roles were Watt, played by Orla Gunner, Alice, played by Robyn Jones and Dusty the Dragon, voiced by Rhiannon Tavender.
Head teacher Pat Fowler described it as a “fun storyline”, which the pupils had made their own alterations to.
She said the performance had been popular with adults and children, and the pupils were “all brilliant” in the parts they played.
Held at St Michael’s Church next to the school, it was shown twice to packed out audiences.
The musical took just a few weeks to rehearse, with the hard work and help of musical director Lucy Archer and producer Deborah Evans.
Not only did the school give two excellent performances, they also raised £233 for the African Relief Fund.
