A NEW four-classroom block will be built at Sidmouth’s St Nicholas Church of England Junior School if a planning application is successful.

Town Councillors last week threw their support behind blueprints that include proposals to remove and demolish an existing portable unit and two-classroom block respectively.

The planned new block will mirror the existing construction but total 450 square meters of space, providing four classroom teaching areas, new toilet facilities and a central open area as a circulation space.

Plans say the modular classroom unit may be relocated during construction to provide temporary teaching space.

They also reveal work would need to be carried out while the school is in full operation and temporary classrooms may be required on site for up to a year.

East Devon District Council will decide the fate of the plans.
