Sidmouth College students were celebrating a crop of “outstanding” GCSE results this morning.

Seventy five percent achieved five or more A* to C grades.

Drama results were “the best ever” with 100 per cent of pupils scooping A* to C.

The college has yet to publish the crucial figure for pupils with five or more A* to C marks including Maths and English.

It is thought to be over 65 per cent- but is subject to a national appeal after disappointing English results.

Principal, Jeremy Roberts, said many students had exceeded their targets amid a “culture of success”.

He said: “I am so proud of the achievement of our students and particularly pleased that they have shown such commitment to their education.”
