NEWTON Poppleford Primary School pupils enjoyed a day of puzzle posers last Thursday (March 30).
Children spent the day taking on challenges under the watchful eye of ‘Puzzle Man’ Tim Rayner of the Happy Puzzle Company.
Groups of youngsters talked about and solved puzzles among activities which included building a road map using jigsaw pieces, a giraffe out of colourful plastic and shapes out of different shapes or tangrams.
The fun was part of the school’s Mathematics Week- celebrating the topic of ‘maths around us’.
Subject teacher James Morison said Year Six pupils designed ‘maths circus’ activities and ‘maths trails’ for other classes in order to make arithmetic more “fun and engaging.”
