Three schools in Sid and Otter Valleys receive cheques from Archant after school voucher scheme
THREE schools in the Sid and Otter Valleys have received cheques from Archant SW following a School Vouchers promotion in the Sidmouth and Ottery Herald.
At St Nicholas Junior School, Woolbrook, on Monday, the Herald’s news editor, Di Bowerman, presented 100 to head teacher Paul Walker and pupils from class 5B.
At Ottery St Mary Primary and Sidbury Primary School, 50 cheques were presented to pupils.
At St Nicks, Mr Walker said: “We will be able to buy more lunchtime equipment. One class raised enough money to buy a Wii and send half to charity. We could buy a couple of games to use at lunchtime.”
The Herald’s Schools Voucher Scheme was launched last November and published vouchers until the end of 2010 for schools to collect and redeem for cash in January.
There was no restriction on what the schools spent the money they raised on.
Di said: “The Herald launched the voucher scheme as a way of supporting schools in the community and I am delighted these three participating schools have benefited from it.”
