CHILDREN at Sidmouth Primary School have teamed up to produce their own newspaper.

Sixteen students aged from nine to 11 carried out interviews, edited stories, arranged printing and distribution, sold advertising and designed the logo of Sidmouth Smile, which was launched on Monday.

Youngsters from years five and six hope to publish the title three times a year and hope any revenue will pay for its costs.

The children came up with all the paper’s sections, features and style.

“We get to interview people instead of finding stuff on the internet, I feel like a real journalist,” said year six pupil Jemima Proctor.

The Sidmouth Smile, available for a minimum donation of 50pence, can be purchased from the primary school’s three sites.
