CREATIVE pupils at Sidmouth’s St Nicholas Junior School got in the festive spirit during a Christmas activities day on Monday.

The 330 children who attend the school in Woolbrook Road, got busy making banners during the morning. Each class made a two-metre long banner themed on the country they are studying.

In the afternoon, parents and siblings were invited along to help the youngsters make pencil toppers, baubles and Christmas cards. Resources were supplied by the PTFA.

“Each teacher took on a group of 30 children, and we had quite a good turnout of parents,” said Year 6 teacher Gareth Bemister.

The Christmas activities day has been a feature of the school’s calendar for three years, and a similar banner-making day is held in the summer.
