The head chef from an acclaimed Ottery restaurant cut the ribbon at St John’s School’s new kitchen classroom last Friday.
The Rusty Pig’s Robin Rea officially opened the food technology room and shared his firm belief in ‘nose to tail cooking’, which looks at using all of a pig.
Food technology lessons will now take an important place in the curriculum, with students from years seven to 10 using the new facilities.
Teacher Sharon Chamberlain-Keen said: “We are thrilled to have our new room open and the students are really excited.
“There is so much interest in food in general, the slow food movement, where our food comes from and, of course, healthy eating, that we are keen to capitalise on that in school.”
