Pupils at West hill Primary School were inspired to raise enough money to send six goats to Rwanda to support families in poverty.

The year five pupils spent last term learning about life in African country and the quality of life children their own age experience.

After feeling they wanted to help out the West Hill children set a target to raise the £30 it cost to send a goat to a Rwandan family in conjunction with ‘Send a Cow’.

The charity aims to transform the lives of families in poverty by providing them with animals, which supply meat, manure and milk with nutrients proven to help improve the effectiveness of AIDS and HIV medication

But the response from the local community meant the pupils managed to raise enough to send six goats, which they celebrated this week.
