An award-winning visitor attraction near Ottery is updating its educational resources to teach people about nature and the environment.
Escot Park is attracting more and more visitors looking for an organised educational visit, such as a trip to its yurt village or its summer programme ‘Camp Wild’.
The park attempts to get children to connect with the natural world through themed learning sessions, including feeding Escot’s animals, go pond dipping, and go exploring on woodland hikes.
Robin Savill, general manager at Escot, is quick to point out nature is not the only attraction at the park these days. He said: “Escot is unique in many respects, resulting in a range of educational experiences that just cannot be found anywhere else.
“The estate’s natural surroundings are stunning but that is only the start, Escot also has a superb range of educational facilities and a first class education team.”
Escot also offers bushcraft, shelter building and the famous ‘Barefoot Swamp Walk’ at its Greenwood Centre, and even has its very own Saxon village to teach people about the crafts and lifestyle of our ancestors.
