If you fancy a walk in East Devon, why not make your way to Mutters Moor, Sidmouth
Walk: 4.5 miles
Time: Allow 2-2 ½ hours.
Terrain: Some steep hills on uneven ground.
What to bring: Wear walking boots or wellies. The walk passes through Sidmouth so take some cash for a cup of tea and a slice of cake!

Car park: Start the walk at Mutters Moor car park at the top of Peak Hill Road, Sidmouth. Nearest postcode EX10 0NW
The walk: From the right of car park at Mutter’s Moor walk along the main path, stick to the right hand side of this path ignoring other turnings.

Take in the beautiful heathland, owned and managed by the Pebblebed Heaths Conservation Trust.
After three-quarters-of-a-mile take the right hand turn on to the bridleway, rather than following the main path signed to Bulverton Hill.
Follow the muddy track down hill until you reach Sidmouth Golf Club, here the path crosses the golf course. Continue along the bridleway and enjoy stunning views over Sidmouth. Continue walking until you reach a track, turn right on the track and right again when you reach the road (Bickwell Lane). Follow the road (ignoring the turning you pass on your right hand side). At T-junction turn right, then take the second left on to Bickwell Valley.
As you walk through the leafy valley, look out for a small East Devon District Council footpath on your left hand side, after the junction with Cotmaton Road. Follow path through the trees, alongside a bubbling stream. Exit on to Manor Road, cross the road and immediately re-join the path.
This leads you through Sidmouth Cricket Club and to the beautiful seafront. Once here turn right and follow the South West Coast Path along the promenade.
Pop-up to Jacob’s Ladder and take in the amazing coastal views from the clock tower. Why not stop for a picnic in the well-maintained and peaceful Connaught Gardens?
As you exit the Jacob’s Ladder beach stay on the South West Coast Path by taking the left-hand turn leading up Peak Hill. Follow the path to the top of the field, stopping to catch your breath and take in the views.
There is a short section on-road before you rejoin the coast path by taking a left hand turn signed towards Ladram Bay. Follow the path up the steep slope to the kissing gate at Peak Hill viewing point.
At Peak Hill, there are stunning views towards Sidmouth and Ladram Bay. On a clear day you may be able to spot as far as Berry Head (beyond Torquay) and in the other direction Portland.
From Peak Hill turn right and cross the field, following the finger post for Mutters Moor and your starting point.
