This August's festival features a bigger Theatre Tent, a new Wild Spa, the chance to hire tipis and yurts, and better entry facilities
Tickets are selling out quickly for this year's Beautiful Days festival at Escot Park on the weekend of August 16-18, but there are still some available.
As usual, Beautfiful Days offers a huge range of live music with something for all tastes. Special guests on the main stage this year are the LA punk rock band NOFX and Florida ska punk band Less Than Jake. The main acts already announced include Skunk Anansie, Ziggy Marley, The Stranglers, Sleaford Mods, Ash, Songhoy Blues, Hothouse Flowers, The Black Seeds, Peter Hook & The Light, Steeleye Span, Cast, Kate Rusby, Seth Lakeman, Ferocious Dog, Cara Dillon, Fisherman's Friends and many more.
There are also fantastic children's play activities, food, drink and craft stalls, a Healing Garden, and a truly eclectic festival vibe which is created by the revellers and entertainers, not by sponsorship or branding. This year the traditional Sunday fancy dress theme is 'fairy tales', which is bound to produce a particularly magical atmosphere, turning the beautiful site into a fantasy-land of fairies, elves, dragons, witches, giants and princesses.
Regular festival-goers will be familiar with most of what Beautiful Days has to offer, but there are some new features for 2019 which may not be widely known:
The seated Theatre Tent will be bigger this year with acts including stand-up comedy from John Shuttleworth and Robin Ince, along with a range of other entertainment including The Laurel and Hardy Cabaret, Histories of the Unexpected, circus performers and a screening of 'Rudeboy: The Story Of Trojan Records'
The 2019 festival will have a new Wild Spa at the back of the Main Arena, with stunning views over the estate, equipped with wood-fired hot tubs, a wood-fired sauna yurt, hot and cold showers, private changing rooms and a cosy Bedouin chill-out lounge with huge bean bags, rugs & throws.
This year there will be tipis, bell tents and yurts available for hire in 'The Garden' within the Barleyfields campsite. These must be booked directly through the suppliers, in addition to the weekend festival tickets.
All bars at the festival will be selling re-usable pint cups for £1, instead of single-use plastic cups. The refillable cups can be swapped for clean ones with each new drink.
Improvements have been made to the site to speed up entry for campervans and larger vehicles. A new entry gate for cars only will be open on the Thursday. There will also be additional toilets to reduce queuing.
