Plans to demolish part of the old factory site in Ottery and build housing, retirement accommodation and offices will be unveiled today.

An exhibition by developers at a shop in Mill Street will show proposals to preserve and restore parts of the listed mill and also create a ‘high quality residential development with improved river-front access’.

Paul Conway, managing director of Churchill Property Group South West which owns the former Cutler Hammer factory, will be on-hand at the event to speak to residents and get feedback on the scheme.

Held in what used to be the town’s travel agents, it is open from noon to 8pm today, and from 9am to 1pm tomorrow morning.

Mr Conway said the potential benefits of his firm’s proposals include removing ‘unattractive buildings at key approach to the town’, providing purpose-built retirement accommodation and potentially creating new offices for the district council.
