A LOCAL children's author will be treating the bustling crowd at this Saturday's Ottery community market where he will be signing copies of his new book.

Richard Parkyn, will be meeting and greeting the crowds and signing copies of his fairy tale style book, The Balaclava Boy.

The book is a mixture of Richard's childhood background of growing up on a remote farm on Bodmin Moor with dreams of being a superhero and the old legends of Cornish giants.

This month's market is predicted to be the biggest yet with a full house of stallholders and a large range of local produce and crafts to choose from.

Meg Mansfield, one of the organisers, said: "There is such a brilliant atmosphere on the morning, it makes shopping fun again.

"And you can buy unique, one-off items that make fabulous gifts and produce that couldn't be fresher."

There will be face painting for children and a wide variety of products will be on sale including small items of furniture, works of art, military models and Christmas decorations.

The market will take place tomorrow, Saturday, November 22 from 9.30am-12.30pm at the Institute.
