A famous fantasy fiction writer spoke to The King’s School pupils this week to encourage budding writers.

Darren Shan, 39, is a prolific writer of children’s books such as ‘The Saga of Darren Shan’ books and the 10-part ‘The Demonata’ series.

On Tuesday morning he spoke to lower school students and signed books in the library.

School Librarians Debra Hanson and Annie James said the aim of the project is to encourage young people to appreciate how their ideas, feelings and opinions can be powerfully expressed and communicated using words, and hopefully foster enthusiasm for the written word.
