WORK to prevent flooding in an Ottery Street will benefit vulnerable homes when it begins next week.
Heavy rainfall has seen properties near a pedestrian walkway, which stretches from Slade Close to Slade Road and its junction with Shutes Mead, suffer the consequences of flooding.
Devon County Council hopes to overcome the problem when the installation of an additional pipe to deal with surface water starts on Tuesday (September 8). With the area's existing pipe remaining in place, water capacity on completion of the project will have trebled.
