FIREFIGHTERS in Devon say the flooding situation has 'calmed down' but people should still avoid Ottery St Mary.
Ottery Fire Station is now on 'silver command' which means the main emergency service heading up flood rescue is now the police.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "The weather is starting to ease off and the situation seems to be calming down.
"The main message for people in Ottery is to stay in doors and try to keep warm. Anyone else should avoid entering the area at all costs.
