A FLORAL display promoting the Jurassic Coast is due to be unveiled in Sidmouth next month.

The Jurassic Coast Trust in connection with Oakdown Caravan Park, Sidmouth in Bloom and East Devon District Council will bring the Jurassic era back to life in the form of the exhibit, which will be located at The Triangle.

Designed by Sidmouth in Bloom, it will comprise of a floral Jurassic beast, pebbles, plants, shrubs and a display board, with information about the World Heritage Site.

The JCT is paying for the display at the outset but they will be reimbursed by Oakdown Caravan Park through its Visitor Pay Back scheme.

Doreen Franks, owner of the caravan park, said: "We are collecting donations from our guests when they arrive and forwarding the money on to the trust. We are aiming to raise in excess of 2,000 to pay for the display."

The main feature of the exhibit, the Jurassic beast, has been made out of metal and wire shaped by Sidmouth Foundry and the pebbles have been donated by Blackhill Quarry in Woodbury.

EDDC has provided the site to house the display and council workers will be clearing the area before installing the exhibit.

Doreen, a member of the World Heritage Site steering group, added: "A lot of people have been involved in putting this together and it has been a great team effort.

"This is a chance for my business to lead the way forward to enhance the Jurassic Coast and also to enhance Sidmouth in Bloom. Hopefully other businesses will follow our lead."

The display will be officially unveiled by its sponsors on Monday, June 22 at 2pm.
