Florence ‘not fussed’ at turning 100

A LETTER from the Queen, baskets of flowers, a handmade cake and a large gathering for family and friends were all on the menu when Sidford resident Florence Morris celebrated her 100th birthday.
‘Morrie’ had a great time according to long-term friends Sonia and Graham Sanders, who live with her in Newlands Close.
Initially Florence, who moved to Sidford from Hemel Hempstead 40 years ago and was a volunteer at Sidmouth’s charity shops until a decade ago, was not too fussed about the big occasion.
“She didn’t want to be bothered and she couldn’t see any point in having a letter from the Queen because she didn’t know her,” said Sonia.
“But that was before the letter came. When it arrived, she was quite pleased. It was quite funny really!”
Sonia and Graham thanked Trefoil Guild members and friends who joined the celebrations and all those who sent cards, gifts and flowers.
