Flower fans create charming show
ENTRIES for Beer’s 2010 charm chrysanthemum show were up on last year.
The event at the Mariners’ Hall on Sunday attracted 77 entries and 16 exhibitors, compared to 50 and 12 respectively last year. The poetry class was new this year and attracted three entries.
Beer Horticultural Society chairman Ursula Makepeace said: “Considering that it was a relatively quiet day in Beer, we are satisfied with the overall results.
“Growing charm chrysanthemums is a specialised enterprise - the plants need a fair amount of attention and weather plays an important part. It was encouraging that we had four charm growers who entered their exhibits for the first time.”
One regular exhibitor came from the Honiton area, and a visitor from Taunton was determined to exhibit next year.
