APART from some 'low level' drugs offences, policing this year's FolkWeek has gone without a hitch say officers.

Sgt Andy Turner said the week had been in general 'very good natured' and he added: "Things have passed by pretty peacefully.

"Maybe that has had something to do with the wet weather, but there have been only lower level offices, thefts and things like that, but there has been no disorder.

"And, because of the diligence of our officers, most problems were dealt with before they even started."

He said that they had to issue the obligatory warnings at music festivals for drug use and possession and he added: "Drug offences have been down from last year.

"Maybe it's the wet weather, but the problems have been mainly for class B and C drugs like cannabis.

"If we catch somebody in possession of cannabis we will give then an on-the-spot warning, and it will go on their permanent record.

"We just don't want it to filter down to more vulnerable children.
