TICKET sales are going well for this year's FolkWeek which begins in six days' time.Show of Hands' performance at The Ham on Friday, August 1, is already a sell-out, with 1,000 combined advance tickets and season tickets being sold for the hugely popular group. With raised seating at the back of the marquee this year, more people than ever will be able to watch shows, said John Dowell, who has put together this year's programme. With more than 30 years' experience of the festival, Mr Dowell said season ticket sales "are just above target" for the 2008 event. "We are on course for it being a great week. One or two events are expected to be slow but Catherine Tickell has sold over half the tickets," he said.If you buy show tickets before the end of today there is a £2 per ticket discount, either via the website, by telephone or personal callers to Sidmouth Information Centre, said Mr Dowell."Show of Hands is the biggest seller, but if they can fill the Albert Hall they can fill the marquee."Eliza Carthy is the other big act for the start of festival week, and will be playing on Thursday evening, July 31, at The Ham.
