A FOOTBALLING legend may attend a forthcoming charity football match against Exeter City All Stars and Sidbury United AFC.

Steve Perryman, former Tottenham Hotspur and England player, who is current director of football for Exeter City FC, has to confirm whether he will draw the raffle at the match on Sunday, April 26, at Byes Lane, Sidford.

Footballing brothers Danny and Ben Clay will captain the opposing sides and are pictured holding a signed football donated by the Exeter club, one of the prizes on offer.

They have organised the event, which promises to be a family day out with kids' entertainment, bar and barbeque, in memory of their mother Ann, who died from breast cancer last September.

Dad Tim hopes to raise "a four-figure sum" for Breast Cancer Care charity in memory of Ann, a well-known hairstylist in Sidmouth.

Kick-off will be at 2.30pm and the Exeter line-up, which has changed since first announced last month, will be: Danny Clay, Steve Flack, Scott Hiley, Kwame Ampadu, Martin Rice, Kevin Hill, Andy Taylor, James Mudge, Scott Walker, Stuart Fraser, Shaun Taylor, Richard Forbes, Peter Hatch, Gary Rice, Dean Moxey, Martin Phillips, Sean Canham and Tom Kelly. Manager is Jimmy Giles.

Although there will be no charge to the Sidford ground, a souvenir programme is being produced, which Tim hopes will boost funds for Breast Cancer Care.

It will contain photographs of all the players and supported by adverts from local businesses.

East Devon Grecians and local radio will be involved with publicising the event, which Tim hopes will be "one of the biggest sporting events to take place in the Sid Valley.
