Fortfield cash demand from Sidmouth councilllor

PUBLISHED: 15:02 24 January 2012

A SIDMOUTH town councillor slammed a district council document as “anodyne” and “a PR exercise”.

Councillor Jeff Turner said the authority’s ‘council plan’ from 2011 to 2015 was about Honiton, Seaton and Exmouth.

“There’s very little in there for Sidmouth,” Cllr Turner told colleagues at a meeting of the town council.

Mr Turner noted the document pledged community cash from a Tesco development in Seaton would be ‘spent for the benefit’ of that town. He called for funding from the former Fortfield Hotel to be spent in Sidmouth accordingly.
