Fire fighters found two people trapped in a car which had left the road in Four Elms Hill, Harpford.
Two people were cut from cars and taken to hospital following a collision in Harpford on Saturday.
Fire fighters on the scene at around 11.40pm in Four Elms Hill found two people trapped inside a car that had left the road.
Crews from Sidmouth and Ottery St Mary were mobilised, along with the heavy rescue vehicle from Middlemoor.
The fire fighters set about removing the casualties from the vehicle using small tools.
Both casualties were taken to hospital by ambulance, suffering suspected spinal injuries.
Crews also made the scene safe.
