EURO 2012: To celebrate the start of UEFA Euro 2012, Abbott’s DIY shop in Ottery is giving away more than 100 free footballs, flags and inflatable armchairs to cheer on England during the competition. Customers who spend �10 or more can enter the raffle to win one of the prizes in the giveaway, which starts on Wednesday.

HOSPITAL JUBILEE: Ottery St Mary Hospital is celebrating the Diamond Jubilee with a tea party for patients and their visitors on Monday, June 4. Supper will be replaced by jubilee-themed cakes, sandwiches, sausage rolls and scones, and the hospital’s League of Friends will be invited to attend. Patients at the Rowan Assessment Centre have made bunting as part of their therapy classes which will be put up, and they have also looked back at the Queen’s reign during their reminiscence sessions.

CADHAY BRUNCH: To raise money for the Ottery and District Help Scheme there will be a brunch on Thursday, June 7, from 10.30am to 2pm at Cadhay House. There will be bacon baps and sandwiches provided, and guests are invited to bring their own picnics and enjoy the gardens and lake at the Ottery stately home. Entrance costs �3.

PIXIE DAY: It is now less than a month away to one of Ottery’s biggest annual events, Pixie Day. There will be an afternoon of fun and games on the Land of Canaan on Saturday, June 23, followed by the enactment of the famous tradition ‘Pixie’s Revenge’, by local children at 6pm in the town square.
