Learn about east Devon’s unique coastal geology on a free guided walk

A guided coastal walk exploring the Jurassic coast takes place on Sunday, July 29.

Tony Lambert, a Jurassic Coast Ambassador for Branscombe, will lead the hike starting at Branscombe Village Hall at 10.30am.

The first stop is a tour of the Branscombe Manor Mill, which was restored to full working order by the National Trust. The route continues to the beach where Tony will explain the coastal geology. On the way along the beach to the Hooken undercliff path, local botanist Mike Lock will point out interesting plants and flowers. The next stage is from Hooken to Beer for lunch and a talk by Tony on Beer’s history and geology. The route then joins the South West Coast Path to return to Branscombe, arriving at about 4.30pm.

There is no charge for the walk but any donations will go to the Jurassic Coast Trust. The route is about six miles, or 9.6km long, and good footwear is essential.
