The big-hearted folk of Sidmouth have replenished the stocks at the town’s foodbank after an Easter rush left shelves bare.

Co-ordinator Andie Milne said: “We are absolutely amazed and overwhelmed by the stuff that people have brought in.

“The generosity of the Sidmouth community astounds me. They always step up and help. Last week I was almost in tears. We were sending people off to the shops to buy food basics. We didn’t have enough.”

The charity is open between 1pm and 3pm on Fridays at the Dissenters’ Hall.

Foodbank client Amanda Treloar said: “They’re marvellous. What a life-saver! They have helped so much. It’s not just food it’s support.” She became ill and lost her job and has been out of work for nearly a year.

David Cocker, who was there with his partner Melissa Seale, said: “We were relying on family and friends to help us fill our cupboards so this has been a godsend.”
