FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR PROJECTS INVOLVING ADVENTURE
Cash for new play areas or waking up tired ones
Do you know a place in East Devon that needs a play area? Does your local East Devon play area need revamping?
Organisations including community groups, Parish and Town Councils, voluntary organisations and local charities can now apply for grants of up to 50,000 to build new or refurbish old play areas for 8-13 year olds. Around 22 Devon play areas will receive the funding.
Play areas that will encourage more active play and include an element of challenge or adventure are more likely to be successful. The funders are also looking for projects that will be attractive to girls, inclusive of minority ethnic groups and that more children, including disabled children, can access safely.
The funding has come from the Government's Play Builder project and is being distributed throughout Devon by Devon County Council.
To apply you must express your interest by 15 May 2009, using a simple form on Devon County Council's (DCC) internet site. They will then assess who is likely to be successful. For these applicants there will then be a further application form.
