Gala concert aids Macmillan

A GALA concert at Sidmouth Parish Church raised £408 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Roger Hendy brought the Isca Ensemble to town for the concert, and the retiring collection was donated to the charity.

Sidmouth branch chairman Joyce Burnham said: “I would like to take this opportunity of thanking Roger, the orchestra and Peter Adcock soloist pianist, who was absolutely wonderful, for the most thrilling concert. I think there were probably 300 people in the church and the music delighted us all.

She said the cash would go a long way in supporting Macmillan, as its services are funded by the generosity of the public.

“We do not receive any other support and are therefore very grateful to Roger and everyone who contributed. It goes without saying, it is very much appreciated,” she said. “All the money raised in Devon stays in Devon.”
