Swimming teams from across Sidmouth dived in for charity at the annual Swimathon.

Teams big and small took to the pool on Saturday afternoon to help raise money for Sid Vale Memory Café.
Each team swam as many lengths in their allocated hour racing against the clock and each other.
The event’s organiser, Steve Gunnell, said: “It was just great to dive into a pool of local talent who were prepared to raise money for a more-than-worthy charity. I congratulate them all.”
The Waitrose team swam 155 lengths, claiming first place over St John’s School by one stroke.
Four reporters from the Sidmouth and Midweek Herald also took part swimming 80 lengths in an hour.
The 20 teams taking part included; the Catholic Church of the Precious Blood, Sidmouth Tennis Club, Sidmouth Parish Church, All Saints Church, Victoria Hospital. 1st Sid Vale Scouts, Health Centre, Sidmouth Golf Club, St John’s School, Sidmouth Rotary Club, Sid Valley Rotary Club, the Victoria Hospital Comforts Fund, Sidbury Cricket Club, Sidmouth Garden Centre and Waitrose.
Altogether the teams swam an impressive 2,261 lengths of the pool or the equivalent of 35 miles drive from Sidmouth to Weymouth.
