SIDMOUTH Hospiscare charity shop is set to increase its revenue now that it can claim Gift Aid on donated items.

The charity currently only claims Gift Aid on cash donations, however, from December 1, all of its 16 shops, including Sidmouth's Fore Street branch, will be set up to claim the Gift Aid tax relief on all items donated by taxpayers, which increases the value of donations to its charity shops by 28%.

Helen Hutter, Hospiscare's Head of Retail, said: "This is an important development for us and we are really pleased to have been able to implement Gift Aid in all our shops.

"It means that the value of donated items is even higher, and it also makes our customers feel special as when they buy something we receive an extra 28%.

"The additional revenue will generate an additional £50,000 a year, which will help us to continue to provide vital services for people with life-threatening illnesses and their families."

Hospiscare shops are happy to receive donations of good quality items such as clothes, books or gifts.
