A RECORD number of motorbikes have been lent out by a not-for-profit company covering all of Devon, to help get people back on the road and in to work or training.

Devon Wheels 2 Work is a community interest company helping people from rural areas of Devon get to work or training by arranging the hire of motorbikes, scooters and quad bikes at a fraction of the normal cost.

In the past 18 months, since the company started covering all the county, 319 people have hired its bikes.

The scheme was set up in recognition of those people who live on a limited income in isolated areas and find it difficult to travel to work or training.
